Happy New Year!! And a big thank you to everyone who reached into their hearts - and pockets - to help so very many needy families and to make our fifth annual holiday fundraiser such a huge success!!

The Unity Telethon aired in December 2004, raising nearly $500,000, and our collective contribution of $2800 was a greatly appreciated part of that total!

ImageWe presented Kenny with an "honorary" check for $2500 after his Friday night show in Cerritos (but by the time we ended the telethon, our total had grown to $2800!). Janet told him that "although there had been many changes in his life during the past year, the one thing that stayed consistent and did not change, was our love for him." She went on to say that the small group of fans in attendance that night were there on behalf of ALL the fans who love him and contributed to this wonderful cause as our holiday gift to him. He was getting teary-eyed at this point when someone noticed that we hadn't let him see the check yet, or how much it was for! Kenny was both honored and very, very touched that you have all continued to support Unity on his behalf, year after year.

On Sunday, December 5, a group of us headed to The Unity Shoppe in Santa Barbara. We quickly donned aprons and were put to work in various areas of the store where the Unity families would be coming in; and shortly afterwards we were off to the theater across the street to man the phones. The food shelves were rather empty in the Unity store, and we know every dollar we donated will help to replenish the supplies for the many families that truly wouldn't have a holiday meal without it!

Image At 4:10 pm we did our presentation of the check on live tv (Kenny had a performance in Cupertino, so he was not able to be with us in person)! Then we were back on the phones again from 5 to 6 pm.

During this hour, to our surprise, Rob Lowe, was the special celeb guest. We suddenly got the idea of tossing out a challenge to him to see if HIS fans could match the amount the Loggins fans had donated. Well, he LOVED the idea and off it went. We ended up with his family, friends, neighbors, and fans all calling in; which brought in roughly another $6000 for Unity!

Special Giveaway Items!

As you may remember, we had 3 autographed items that Kenny personally signed, 2 copies of the "El Lobo" DVD donated by Sara S. of MD, and an autographed copy of "DiscLive" donated by Judy Z.

And our lucky winners ...

Veronica V. from PA was our top donor and she chose one of the copies of the "El Lobo" DVD. We had both Judy and Sara pull the random names for the other two prizes, and the winners were Pat M. from New York City and Karen R. from Florida. Congratulations!
